Some may remember me from my posts last summer, for others I'm new, but a warm hello to all :-) Since there were a few requests for a translation of the peace camp advert, and since Lirun is otherwise occupied at the moment with the surf scene and exploration in central america, I'm going to give it a try.
I've just started some concerted hebrew study and have thus far been able to get by in Israel primarily with a mix of english, french, engbrew and such. It's actually a huge testament to the country that we have such a polyglot of languages spoken here. Sometimes it looks and feels like a living Benetton commercial here in Tel Aviv. But, since Hebrew and Arabic are our official languages, I've finally decided to go for the legitimate israeli immersion and begin to learn one language at a time in it's entirety.
If the fluent hebrew speakers among us find mistakes in the translation then feel free to slap me with comment spam ;-) I'm not doing it word for word exactly but taking liberty with the general meaning of the sentences.
here goes sparky:

Peace Camp-
Please spread the word to your list of friends of a Jewish/Arab youth peace camp with an alternative view of the year. Peace to everyone. This year, if you can call it a year, we're having our summer camp in jaffa. In the camp are 60 arab/jewish teenagers from across the country who will meet to express a voice of change. The camp this year will be an alternative look both jewish and arab at the 60th celebration of Israels birth and of the Palestinian naqba. Together we will examine the past and the present in the dual context and see what kind of future we want to have. This camp is aimed at teenagers from 8-14 and will be held from the 16th-21st of July. The camp will have differant activities including: music, art, hasbara ( advocacy), protest, and language. We will be happy if you could spread the word to youth who will be interested in participating in the event.
Thank you in advance.
