Terror in Sinai

Seems the Israel intelligence alerts were true. A car bomb had exploded in the entrance of Hilton Taba, near the israeli most southern city of Eilat. The explotion caused most of the hotel entrance to collapse. The Egyptians had allowed about 5 israeli ambulances to go in (the hotal is barely 15 minutes walk from the Israeli border and very far from any other egyptian settlement).

Dozens of dead are expected and even more wounded. I’ll update as thing will be announced on TV (as usually, Israeli Channel 2 TV proves to be the most updated news channel. BBS isn’t saying anything yet, CNN hardly knows anything and only French TV says they know of 23 dead already)

Israelis starts pouring back from Egypt to Israel. I’ve called Inbalita in Eilat, just to make sure she’s safe. She’s ok.

A lot of confusion over there. Bloody shit.

Another explotion in the Nuieba region.

update (Midnight)
Still not everything clear about the other 2 explosions in Ras Al Satan, a beach in Nueiba very popular with tourists and Israelis in particular.

Media reports more then 100 wounded and the Israeli army had opened the Emergency Storages in the Eilat area. Seems all the Israelis currently in Sinai (and there are plenty since it is the Sukot Holiday now) are packing and rushing back to Israel.

At least the Egyptians allowed Israeli ambulances and firefighters in, though they held them up more then 2 hours after the explosion, until they allowed them in.

Reports says Hammas is behind this. If so, I’m sure we’re going to do some MAJOR operation in the Palestinian territories. I just hope it doesn’t mean I’ll be issued a warrant 8 (emergency draft to the army) which will prevent me from flying over to Spain. I’m also not sure about how people over there will react to me being Israeli while a big operation is being carried out (specially since I’ll be supporting it…) But we’ll deal with these kind of problems as they come. First we need to finish this whole terror attack of the night.

Update 1:00am
Seems the Egyptians are anything but helping. Paramedics, Firefighters and ambulances are hardly allowed in, most of the paramedics just run to the place on feet (being 15 minutes walk from the border). The Israeli special Rescue Force are not allowed in yet. Many Israelis coming from Sinai are furious on the rescue teams that have arrived only 2 hours after the explosion - though the only think kept them was Egyptian border officers.

To add to the problems, seems Egyptians have taken Israeli wounded to Hospitals inside Egypt, in places as far as Suez. so instead of allowing Israel to evacuate them to a hospital 5 minutes drive from the spot (in Eilat), they are taking them to hospitals more then 30 minutes drive from the place. Voices in Israeli media already starts to accuse Egypt in a scandal that is costing lives of wounded.

Reports from Arab media reports around 40 dead and at least 150 wounded (not all Israeli). the 30 Israeli firefighters allowed to get to the hotel are reporting trapped people but they estimate the number of trapped isn’t high. First Israeli ambulances are also starting to head south to Nueiba beach, where 2 explosions happen. Early reports from there suggest 1 dead and 7 wounded, though these reports weren’t confirmed yet.

Egyptian TV (controlled by the government there) try to portray the whole 3 terror attack as the “regular” fight between Israel and the Palestinians, and try to make it sound like Egypt is not even evolved. Yea, right, like Sinai is still Israeli. STAR News already discussed the incident as a colossal failure of the Egyptian intelligence, as they have given alerts by Israeli intelligence and still did nothing.
