I haven’t written for more then a week, for 2 main reasons. First, I’ve kind of blocked myself from any news source since I had enough of all this war issue. The second reason, and the most important, is that I felt uncomfortable writing with the sudden rise of attention. This personal log is just a side thing, I have much bigger activities online, and suddenly getting 2,600 visitors a day instead of the usual 100-120 felt… well, exposed. Specially when articles about Salam Pax started to be published on the net and direct people to my site (and sometimes even misquoting things I said).
Anyway, I took a week off, hoping most of the people came looking for Salam, or thinking I’m an Iraqi myself (and you’ll be amazed by the number of emails and SMSs I got from people thinking I’m an Iraqi) will fade away with time. I’m now back in Ashkelon for the weekend, since I have to leave on Monday to do a reserve duty until May. That will be 3 weeks or so with no access to the internet (or to ANYTHING in the real world), so I thought I would best be updating now.
I can’t give locations and stuff, of course, but basically I’m going to spend the next weeks on the northern border, with Lebanon. I’m a Company Medic in my army profession (well, at least that’s my MAIN profession…) and I hope I will not have to practice this profession this time. Still I feel tired already thinking about all the gear I need to take care of, in addition to the rest of the usual stuff like any other soldier. I hope the hizbulla isn’t into seeking provocations these days as they were the last time I’ve been there. (It’s so surreal, that such a militant terror organization got a web site…)
I’ve just started to shift gear on the TV Show project, I hope everything will go out well and I’ll be able to produce this show. Apparently, it’s a big project comparing to previous shows produced in Israel and I have to keep costs as down as possible. In no way it could cost more then $45,000 per episode. When I first started to consult people and make calculations about costs and all I was shocked from the amounts. I guess I’m just not used to handle such large sums, yet. The yearly events I was producing between 1995-1998 had never exceeded budgets of 50,000 NIS ($10,500). It’s big money and big risks now. Still, if I’m getting green light on producing this thing, I’m sure it will be awesome!
Well, Kinda late, I’ll go read some stuff and go to sleep. I’ll post something more tomorrow.

Of course, I found your blog through my curiosity about Salam Pax. However, I have come back because I think you are interesting and sincere. As an American supporting the war, but concerned about the fallout, it is important to gather information from different sources. Unlike any war in history, the blogs are playing such a major role getting people connected. I love the immediacy of it. Being able to communicate directly with someone in Israel feels like such a privelege. I share your concern for Salam’s safety. It will be cause for celebration should he post again anytime in the future. Be safe.
