Another Day, More Terror

I was just visiting Moonlight, my gf, at the dorms, when her roommate rushed out of the room and called us in - “There was an explosion in the French Hill!” We hurried to Alex’s room to see what’s going on on TV. In the big junction next to the Mount Scoops Campus of our university there was a a familiar scene - another terror attack.

Apparently a car stopped at the junction around 19:15, a terrorist (female?) went down, and ran to the several bus stations that were located on the other side of the junction. 2 Border Policemen noticed it and started chasing him, but he managed to reach the stations and explode himself. To make it clear, Mount Scopus is the main Campus of the Hebrew University and many students (as well as other people) are used these stations to get their daily buses. The report, up to now (20:30) talks about at least 7 dead, at least 40 people injured. As we all know the nature of early reports, the numbers are probably much higher.

The organization that took the responsibility is the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a part of the FATAH - Arafat’s movement (and don’t even bother telling me he was not involved). Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is on the American list of terror oganizations, though somehow, the US decided thier leader, Arafat, isn’t a terrorist… Logic of politicians.

Israeli government decided a change of policy yesterday, after the bus attack, and declared it will capture PA territory for every such attack, and will keep it for a long term, until all terror attacks will cease. Yesterday IDF forces went inside Jenin. A few minutes ago a spokesman from the government declared that tonight more territory will be captured as a result of the attack.

Here is what I think:

I wish, just WISH there was another way. If there was a way to locate only the people in the palestinian areas that responsible for terror, I would support any effort to eliminate them (capture them alive if no risk for our soldiers, but killing them should be much safer). However, since Israel is already trying this for a long time and (as you see) it’s not a realistic option - specially when some of the people responsible are Arafat and his friends, which are considered leaders. Therefore a SERIOUS punishment must be found.

Israel restrained it’s action through many attacks. We only reacted when things got too unbearable.

And it’s unbearable again.

I’m trying not to drift to radical offers. The idea of declaring Hebron as Israeli and expelling anyone not willing to be israeli citizen did cross my mind, but I’m aware many of the people there are not responsible for these murderous attacks and expelling them from their homes isn’t moral. So there must be another solution.

But WHAT?!
You can’t GIVE them anything after such terror. You can’t go towards them in anything or they will think terror is working and could be applied to get even more from us. And we have to PUNISH for these attacks, we can’t go silent, that would be like giving them a green light to continue.

Any reaction we’ll do will also hurt innocent people, but since innocent people (OUR people) were already been hurt, and more will (in future attacks) if we won’t respond, there is no other way. Suffer they will.

I’m not a politician, nor a military strategy specialist. I can’t guarantee capturing palestinian territory will do the trick. But hell, we tried almost every other thing. Maybe that will make them restrain themselves.

I really think the palestinians are heading for self destruction. They’re suiciding. It’s not a collective decision, it’s a decision taken for the Palestinian people by Arafat and the other terror organizations. They do not lead their people to salvation, they lead it to doom.

And untill the palestinians will come to their senses, drop the bombs and come to talk about peace, we’ll keep bleeding - and they will more. Much more.
